Everywhere I travel, Soldiers and Industry alike are interested in when a new technology might be available for use on the Army Network. Tablets are no exception and I am happy to report the Army continues to expand its work in this area. Currently, there are several tablet devices available on the Computer Hardware, Enterprise Software and Solutions (CHESS) catalogue [chess.army.mil] that units and organizations can evaluate and purchase if appropriate. Each has achieved the baseline requirements in security, environmental protection and Trade Act Agreement to be integrated and managed using our existing capability.

I am pleased to inform you that the LandWarNet (LWN) Services Catalog, the customer-facing document for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) Services, is now available. The online version of the LWN Services Catalog is available to Common Access Card (CAC) holders at: https://www.itmetrics.hua.army.mil/.

On September 6th, the NETCOM/9th SC(A) Commanding General, MG Jennifer Napper, lifted the “operational pause” for the Army's migration to DoD Enterprise Email (EE). To date, the Army has migrated over 105,000 users mailboxes to DISA-provided EE services. You probably do not know this number includes several thousand users in other Services and DoD Components. As we migrate Combatant Commands in Europe, DoD users will continue to migrate.

The Army plans resume Enterprise Email migration on or about 1 Sept. 2011. Between Aug. 16 and Sept. 1, the Army is first testing new, refined migration procedures at Fort Lee, Va., and Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
