I want to provide a brief update on the Army's migration to DoD Enterprise Email. You may recall from my January 5th post that the FY12 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) required the Army to pause its migration to DoD Enterprise Email until several questions were answered by the Secretary of the Army.

On Tue, Feb. 14, the Secretary of the Army certified that the Army's acquisition approach is in the best technical and financial interests of the Army, and provides for the maximum amount of competition possible. The acquisition of DoD Enterprise Email services by the Army was designated a formal acquisition program on January 25, 2012.

The Secretary of the Army report was delivered to Congress on Thu, Feb 16, 2012. We expect DoD Enterprise Email migrations to resume by Mar. 17, 2012.

Once again, I'd like to express my gratitude to the entire team of Soldiers, Civilians, Contractors and mission partners who are working to make this critical capability a reality. If Congress puts our Enterprise Email report online, we will share the URL.

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Secretary of the Army Certifies Acquisition of DoD Enterprise Email

Mr. Krieger,

I am just inquiring if the DoD Enterprise E-mail migrations are currently still on schedule to resume tomorrow, March 17th, 2012. I wasn't sure if any roadblocks took place since the last update on 2/17/12.

Also, has the Secretary of the Army report to Congress been made available as of yet, so the public may be able to view it?

Thank you.

Jeff,

Thanks for your question. There are no roadblocks and migrations will resume
on Monday, 19 March. The report is not available now, but I hope to post it
soon.
